My career as a food stylist began in London. The job of a food stylist is to cook and present dishes for magazines and cook books. I was fortunate enough to work with some of the best food photographers in the industry, shooting for all the top food magazines. I became food editor of several titles during that time including BBC Vegetarian Food magazine and Options Magazine, as well as being a contributing author to many others including BBC Good Food, Food & Travel Magazine, Country Living, House & Gardens and Good Housekeeping
I wrote my first cookbook ‘The Inspired Vegetarian’ for American book publisher Stewart, Tabori & Chang in 1993. This book changed many people’s conceptions of vegetarian food at the time and sparked the beginning of a successful and very diverse career as a cookbook author. My cook books have sold thousands of copies around the world and have covered subjects such as Barbecues, Baking, Picnics, Thai cooking, Salads and Dressings, Paella and my latest cook book Oodles of Noodles.
Ian and I relocated to Sydney in 2000. We began working closely together as a sought after team of food writer, stylist and food photographer for magazines such as Gourmet Traveller, Vogue Entertaining & Travel, Delicious Australia and Taste magazine. I became food editor of two great lifestyle titles, Real Living magazine and Inside Out magazine.
Together, we also worked for many of the book publishers In Australia especially ACP Women’s Weekly (Bauer Media) where we shoot and styled over 40 books together many of which became best sellers.
France
In 2013 we moved back to Europe and settled in a beautiful part of SW France. We continue to work together from our home here in France. As a self contained partnership Ian and I are able to take on commissions here in France in much the same way as we have in the UK and Australia. We are happy to work with or without an art director and have enjoyed a great deal of success working this way, producing high quality food and lifestyle features for our international clients.
We are so lucky that we are surrounded by simply beautiful locations that we can use to create great opening shots for many different features, so please get in touch with us if you would like to work with us.
Really I can't say it any better than Elizabeth David in her book An Omelette and a Glass of Wine....
“To eat figs off the tree in the very early morning, when they have been barely touched by the sun, is one of the exquisite pleasures of the Mediterranean.”
